Aims and Functions of the Ministry

The main identified organizational structure of the Ministry of Industry & Trade according to the Republican Degree No. 303 of 2001

 





-         Participating in the drawing of general economic policy of the country, the plans and programs for implementation.

-         Drawing and implementing industrial development strategy, organize trade activity, and suggest the policies and programs for implementation in accordance with enforceable laws.

-         Suggesting and preparing draft laws organizing trade and industrial activities , issuing the, systems, regulations and decisions in  the field of the Ministry activity, and the issuing of its implementation

-         Encouraging and developing the participating sectors in the industrial and commercial field.

-         Prepare the studies and suggestion for establishing industrial zones in coordination with the concerned authorities.

-         Paying more attention to trade balance statistics and data, and analyzing them to benefit in preparing commercial studies, and suggest development mechanisms in coordination with the concerned authorities.

-         Studying, analyzing, and following–up internal and external market development and its effect on national economy.

-         Encouraging, organizing, and monitoring technology transfer.

-         Taking the proper measures and procesures to enhance, insure trade competition in local markets, preventing monopoly, and deception in accordance to enforceable laws and decisions.

-         Keeping the records of trade marks, trade names, patents, drawings and industrial designs, and protecting intellectual and industrial property rights in accordance to enforceable laws and decisions.

-         Keeping trade and industrial record, and issuing of trade and indusial activity in accordance with enforceable laws.

-         Supervising the foreign exhibits, organizing and holding local and foreign exhibits, institutions, and operating industrial and trade companies' subsidiary to the ministry, industrial and commercial chambers, and works of Supreme Export Promotion Council, auditing and revising accounts in accordance to enforceable laws and decisions.

-         Drafting and applying modern system for industrial and trade information, and coordinating with General Authority of Free Zones for obtaining information.

-         Preparing of draft projects of Free Trade Exchange Zones.

-         Studying trade agreements, opportunities, advantages, and commitments resulting from joining the agreements of economic, regional and international organizations, and the consequences of WTO accession to benefit from it in foreign trade management.
